“100 Toys (& their Stories) that Define Our Childhood” was originally intended to be a small, experimental story-collecting project, but transformed into “a perfect storm” of diverse online engagement and community-curation when it gained prominent attention in the press and on social media. After receiving 24,000 votes, 600 story submissions, and countless comments on a variety of social platforms, “100 Toys” surpassed expectations and provided an abundance of insights into the nature of community-sourced, online, social projects.
