Imagine an organisation that wanted to create an on-line and in-gallery
resource including lots of content, from multiple contributors - but had
little time and a modest budget (sound familiar?). A project that needed a
content management system - but couldn't afford to implement one. Was there a
solution?

In 2012 the The Institute of Contemporary Arts launched SOUNDWORKS, an online
exhibition exploring over one hundred new sound works produced by artists from
all over the world. In this paper, hear how the ICA and Cogapp collaborated to
create a responsive, immersive and beautiful online experience with no CMS.

Using modern browser technologies and social media, Cogapp created a unique
and innovative stripped back interface that allowed users to explore the works
in the exhibition on desktop, tablet and mobile. A special in-gallery mode
also allowed visitors to the ICA to enjoy the online experience via a
customised interface.

Discover how we utilised SoundCloud and Twitter APIs to organise and promote
the content, ensuring a constant and solid online presence.

And learn how not having to implement a CMS can actually work to your
advantage, increase the visibility of your content and maximise your potential
within the constraints of a limited budget.
