Kathryn is a PhD candidate in Free-Choice Learning in the Science Education program at Oregon State University. Her research interests center on how adults use current scientific research information, particularly around making meaning from visualizations and animations, and how they understand models. She is a research assistant for the NSF ISE Cyberlaboratory grant at Hatfield Marine Science Center, where she is implementing technology to capture research data in a continuous, longitudinal manner designed to minimize the impact of data collection on the museum visitor's experience and ultimately impact customization of the individual visit.
