Textile Museum of Canada
Shauna McCabe is Executive Director of the Textile Museum of Canada. She had held the position of Canada Research Chair in Critical Theory in the Interpretation of Culture at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick since 2007 where she also founded CHARTS, the Centre for Humanities and Arts Research in Transdisciplinary Space. Previous to this, McCabe was the Director of The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and Senior Curator of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Completing her doctorate in geography with a focus on critical landscape aesthetics in contemporary art at the University of British Columbia in 2001, her work has focused on space, architecture and locative practice, producing over 50 exhibitions including recent international projects Nuit Blanche Toronto, (2012), Krimiseries: Raqs Collective, Deimantas Narkevicius, Stih & Schnock, Mac Adams, and Susan Schuppli (Museum London, 2010), Formerly Exit Five: Portable Monuments to Recent History (Kenderdine Art Gallery, 2010), and The Rural Readymade (Confederation Centre Art Gallery, 2011).
